Valmalenco Valley
Where ibex paint the peaks by night.

Unlike the uniform grey of many Alpine ranges, Valmalenco is a mosaic.
Within a short distance, the landscape shifts from the velvet green of Serpentinite rock to ghostly whites and warm, rusty oranges.
To a geologist, this is a rare window into the Earth’s crust. But to us, these colours are the work of the majestic ibex…
The Heart of the Alps
Valmalenco sits in the central spine of the Italian Alps, where high peaks and glaciers divide Italy and Switzerland.
- Getting Here: Though it feels worlds away, we are just two hours north of Milan’s three international airports.
- Lake Como: The scenic route passes the iconic shores of Lake Como — perfect for a day boat trip or a lakeside espresso.
- Famous Neighbors: Only 1.5 hour drive to Bormio and Livigno, venues of the 2026 winter games, and the elegant Swiss resort of Saint Moritz.

Upon their horns, ibex carry secret paints by night. . .
Brushing the cliffs, they leave vibrant hues you see by light.
Local Flavours, Culture and Heritage
Our adventures naturally blend culture, history and cuisine.
If you wish, we can dedicate even entire days to visiting terraced vineyards, castles and authentic mountain farms for lunch or dinner.

Mountain Huts – Rifugi
In Valmalenco, we are blessed to have a network of over 20 lovely mountain huts (rifugi in Italian) that we use for overnight stays during our hut-to-hut treks, or for lunch stops on day hikes.
Some are basic and some are fancier, yet all of them offer delicious local dishes. On average, the price per person per night is around 75 euro which includes dinner, breakfast and your bed.
Sleeping arrangements vary, but most huts offer 2 or 4 beds in a room, and also bigger dormitory-style rooms (6-14 people).
