Splitboarding is the ultimate way to explore the backcountry on a snowboard. It gives you the freedom to leave the crowded slopes behind and discover untouched terrain.

Passo Spluga, a high mountain pass just a two-hour drive from Valmalenco, offers the perfect terrain for splitboard touring. Connecting Switzerland and Italy, the pass is surrounded by iconic peaks and diverse slopes. It also features a well-equipped rental shop, making it an ideal base for our adventures.

Whether you are a complete beginner or looking to advance your expertise, we will spend the day putting your skills into practice. Beyond the riding, we will focus on mountain safety and terrain management, teaching you how to navigate the backcountry safely and effectively.

Splitboard touring at Passo Spluga

We will dive into the nuts and bolts of splitboarding, focusing on refining your skinning technique, transitions, and kick-turns. We will work on mastering off-piste snowboarding across various snow conditions—from deep powder to challenging crud and crust—on steeper terrain. Beyond technique, you will develop the essential mental and practical skills for risk management and sound judgment in the backcountry.

If snowpack conditions allow, we will aim for one of the many stunning peaks of Valle Spluga, allowing you to fully experience the true essence of splitboard touring.

Whether you are an expert seeking steep, technical lines or a beginner focused on building foundational skills, I provide a customized approach, ensuring every trip is perfectly aligned with your experience level and goals
